CHAPTER 13: EXPORTING A SONG
To play a song outside SIDJ, convert it on a personal computer with the program tools/sidj2sid.py. It writes a .sid file for SID music players, or a .prg file that plays the song on a Commodore 64.
You need Python 3 and the SIDJ source folder, built with make. To read directly from a disk image you also need c1541, part of the VICE emulator.
- Copy the project file from your disk to the computer, or use the disk image.
- In the SIDJ folder, type one of these lines:
python3 tools/sidj2sid.py SONG -o song.sid python3 tools/sidj2sid.py SONG -o song.prg python3 tools/sidj2sid.py mydisk.d64:SONG -o song.sid
The ending of the output name selects the type. Without -o, the file is named after the project, with .sid.
Options for .sid files:
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
--title T | title (default: the project name) |
--author A | author |
--released R | release line |
--model 8580 / 6581 / any | SID model (default 8580) |
--clock pal / ntsc / any | video standard (default pal) |
To play a .prg on your Commodore 64, load it and type RUN.
